How Coding improves Brain Development: Leapwaters Coding Camp

The world is full of opportunities, it is just we need to tap into the right one at the right moment. In the past one and half years, children are bound indoors and another few months too due to COVID 19 pandemic. They will be at home for a longer time than any time before. While children learn many life skills going to school, kids are now coping up with their studies online and also they try to keep themselves busy so that there is no dull moment in a day.

Parents seek different kinds of activities to keep the child busy. Mostly the development in children takes place at early ages and tapping this valuable time into some useful activities is most important. It is also important to understand the child's interest because one will explore things themselves if they participate wholeheartedly. Accordingly, parents can plan out what is most beneficial for the child to keep them happy and productive. With passing months child's brain starts accepting the physical boundaries but we can surely keep kids energetic in effective ways.

Why child's brain needs to be active

  • A child's upbringing requires constant efforts to lay a strong foundation with utmost patience and practice. Every age a child attains changes their requirements and development process. The early childhood days are best to start with any activity as the learnings are deep-rooted and the child tends to explore a lot. This is only possible by first knowing what exactly interests the child. Not all kids are the same nor their likings so knowing what makes them merrier is the first key towards selecting what is good for them.
  • A child is very much influenced by the surroundings and the activities parents make them indulge in.
  • Logical thinking, problem-solving, sharing things all are part of the overall development of the brain. These areas can be polished by introducing them to activities that are carefully selected according to their age and absorption.
  • As a child grows they require multiple areas to explore and expand their brains horizon to grab skills to solve a problem in a step by step manner.

How children can be active & learning

Countless activities can keep child the brain active and also help them de-stress and at the same time help them build a new skill. Each child is unique and has a different set of preferences, choosing an activity based on interest is preferable whereas few children would like to explore in a new field, at that time parents should support them.

Pursuing a hobby in art:

Art relieves stress, gives wings to imagination, and makes child express their thoughts with ease. The artwork may not be perfect but slowly a child learns to convey the thoughts through Calligraphy, painting, Zentangle art, Mandala painting. It has been studied the child with art has a sharper attention span and can concentrate on studies for a longer duration.

Reading :

Learning is a never-ending process and through books, you can learn many new things. It can be as simple as new words, new culture, new language, new concepts. Reading improves the vocabulary of the child and also introduces them to a world of imagination. BY remembering the storyline, characters, and the notion of the book the child is building its recollection skills that in turn aids the development of the brain.

Learn Coding:

Upscaling the knowledge in the computer field is also a great way to keep children energetic. Talking to a computer in terms of a software language is coding and this keeps the child's interest intact in the learning process. Coding improves problem-solving skills, builds resilience by trial and error coding. It also improves the thinking capability and enhances the creativity of the child.

Citing the importance of coding we came across Leapwaters Coding Camp.

Being from a computer background, I can say coding improves cognitive brain development, improves critical thinking. Coding channelizes a child's brain towards a gradual and systematic approach of reaching out to any solution. These skills aid a child in various walks of life, plus they can take important decisions through a logical thinking process.

  19. Coding is the new buzzword. However i feel there should be an age limit for kids to start this. Very young kids are joining these class...some just because of peer pressure or parent pressure. I feel this is just more time spent in front of a digital device. If the child is not interested, parents should not enforce it. Immaterial of what the ads say, not every child will become a digital genius. If they do, then there wont be any worth for being a 'genius' as every second person will be one.

  28. I have a love hate relationship with coding. It is a requirement in my field, but give me my design tools any day. Coding has been a part of the curriculum for years now. But it is gaining popularity among younger kids now. All said and done, parents should keep in mind that not every child is a prodigy.
