The story revolves around Anviksha and her mother Smita Punjabi. Anviksha Punjabi, a Sindhi lady in her thirties who is a sociocultural anthropologist works at a reputed company but and is someone who is confused about a perfect life.
She is very short tempered and could hardly bear any discussion on relationships as nothing seems to be perfect in her life. Her two times failed marriage makes things all the more difficult to handle. She wants to break free from all these sociocultural baggage of meaningless expectations, roles and relationships.
Her mother, Smita Punjabi runs a boutique and is someone who is best at spreading any news like fire. She always had a gaggle of aunties at her house to add more trouble to Anviksha's life.
To relieve herself from this emotional melodrama she plans a trip to Europe. But her plans to go on a trip all alone fails when her mother forcefully convince her to let her along.
Well, the hilarious experiences of mother daughter would leave you in splits of laughter.
Baggage of Love:
- Loved the most about this fascinating work is the writing style and narration.
- It is very difficult to make someone laugh but the author Richa Mukherjee's story telling technique makes it so relatable and easy.
- The portrayal of Anviksha's mother, Smita Punjabi's character just touches our heart.
- There are many characters introduced in the story that add different flavours and how they eventually help to transform Anviksha is worth reading.
- The characters are shaped with utter care and attention by adding suspenseful and interesting moments is truly commendable.
- The title very aptly conveys that Anviksha feels overburdened by her mother, but finally she understands her worth when she teaches her few life lessons.

The author, Richa Mukherjee puts across a very beautiful message that each one comes in different shapes and sizes, so shared the excess baggage of burdening ourselves to attain that perfect life.
