Unusual Duo

“Wow! Weather is perfect for some hot simmering tea”, Sudha called Dishi in the balcony for evening snacks keeping the tray of Dishi’s favorites.

“The fragrance of sand and the sound of water showering are awesome”, Dishi said excitingly seating next to Sudha carefully.

Sudha quickly grabbed a chair and was happy to see a smile on Dishi's face. They both devoured into snacks and tea and enjoyed the moment silently.

“Whatever I think just happens,” Dishi broke the silence.

Sudha stood with the tray, to leave Dishi with her solitude.

Knowing that Sudha is leaving Dishi instructed
“Please switch off the taps of the overhead tank. I know you can do this for me” and chuckled with smile.

Hearing this Sudha was startled and thought it’s impossible to cheat her.

In her deep thoughts Dishi started talking to her solitude and feeling happy to have a bestie like Sudha in her life. Just then Sudha came from stairs feeling little breathless, as this was the major task of her day.

“Sudha, do you know tomorrow is book reading date of our book”.

“Yes I remember”, Sudha exclaimed and sat near Dishi to wave goodbye to sun who was walking over the horizon.

Fresh breeze soothed their aura and there was sense of happiness and nervousness in the air for both of them.

“I am feeling strange Dishi, looks like butterflies in my stomach, the crowd the co panelists and the expectations from us” Sudha blabbered all this in flash of a second.

“Sudha, you are so cute and silly at same moment”, Dishi excitedly reached Sudha’s chubby cheeks and held her left ear instead of cheek.

“Dishi, you do everything around you so perfect and this time you did an error, looks like you are also nervous”, Sudha tried to know what’s running in Dishi’s mind as she is little less expressive.

Dishi took a big sigh and made Sudha sit on a comfortable beanbag, which they purchased few months ago.

“Are you comfortably sitting on my favorite place to hear me? Questioned Dishi.

“I love this turquoise color and it was my decision too to have it”, Sudha promptly added.

They both burst in laughter over this and Dishi held Sudha’s hand and said.

“Sudha, I have never told you this but today let me say this to you.

You understood me where everyone was sympathizing with me. You were my companion, where everyone was guiding me.

With you it’s different, I don’t feel inferior of myself.
With you I feel myself, I am; what I want to be.

You made me believe that I can still continue my passion for writing after the horrendous accident in which I lost my family and myself in a sense.

You my friend taught me to wipe off tears instead of giving me shoulder to cry. You hold utmost importance in my life and today I say it all to you as you always say, I need to be more expressive in speaking too and not only in writing.”

Sudha was taken aback by the words Dishi spoke as past a year they only spoke about the book they have been working on and Dishi made her feel special and relaxed before the big day.

Sudha did not say anything to reply Dishi, as she wanted to absorb each word Dishi just spoke which she did for the first time in years comparatively to Sudha who always expressed herself.

They both hugged and had cheerful smiles on their faces while they moved towards their room respectively to end the day.

Next day was a big day for both of them as their book titled “My Unspoken Tears” was to release.

Sudha was excited and anxious for the event where Dishi hid her anxiousness under her smile.

They both reached the venue and Sudha stopped to gaze the large poster of their book cover that made Dishi bump in to her who was walking right behind her.

“Sudha what made you stop in middle of a corridor”, Dishi asked fumingly as she did not want any interruptance to reach the hall.

“Dishi, our book cover poster is as huge as we thought of and is looking just like we dreamt” Sudha answered beamingly.

“Great! Let’s keep moving Sudha; I want to be settled in hall before the proceedings begun” Dishi said anxiously.

Dishi and Sudha were seated on a stage and Sudha held the copy of their book and Dishi held braille book version of their novella book “My Unspoken Tears” to read her part in the book reading session.

That’s when a photographer said to his colleague, here they are, an unusual duo in writing world, one handicapped from leg and another blind pointing towards Sudha & Dishi.
