The days passed by and the
season Shreeja loved the most knocked the window.
The water droplets making a rhythmic sound as though cheering for Shreeja and
the cool breeze set her mood uplifted with memories. She was so connected with this
season that even an acquaintance could sense that she is full of life during
this particular season, MONSOON.
SHREEJA & RACHIT STORY |
Time just flies as she peeps out of her window. Shreeja met Rachit on the wettest day of Delhi 8 years ago. The night when she and her colleagues were trapped inside an underground training Centre. The water level kept rising in the room and there was no safe place left. All were kneeling on tables and had worried look on their faces until they heard some footsteps outside the door. After 3 hours of struggle Rachit and his rescue team was successful in opening the damp door that was jammed by water logging helped these trainees to come out of the basement.
Shreeja & her colleagues were really thankful to Rachit and his team for saving their life. They all were completely drenched and rushed to the restaurant was the only restaurant open in that area in that wee hour to comfort them from heavy rains. Rachit and his rescuing team did their best efforts to relief the 30 employees.
The restaurant ‘Forever Flavors’ specialized in serving diverse flavors of hot simmering tea and housed best of flavors combination. Many ordered different flavours but only Sreeja and Rachit ordered the alike flavored tea. A love story just spread its roots on this rainy night over a tea when they both ordered cardamom and turmeric tea.
“You too like this
combination”, queried Rachit to Sreeja.
Sreeja was mesmerized with
Rachit’s charm and replied, “Yes these flavours make me feel calm and relaxed”.
Love was in air, and eyes of
both did the rest of talking with hot sips in between. Rachit with all his care
tucked Sreeja’s hair from forehead behind the ear and was about to say “I….
His phone rang and he left
for his duty. They did not have phone numbers,
neither anything but just first names.
Shreeja, once in a week, went
to restaurant and ordered the tea and had it and leaves after waiting for him
for hours.
After 2 months, she again did
her routine at the restaurant and was about to leave, when she felt dizzy and was falling, just then Rachit
held her in his arms.
Sreeja with little temperature in body was feeling little
weak and said to Rachit, “will you be my savior for whole life”.
And Rachit nodded in complete
happiness as he stepped in restaurant to make her life partner.
They both had many pleasant
days further ahead and relished the tea session with each other.
A thunderous lightning brought Shreeja back from her remembrances. She opened the invitation letter, which was an invite to receive the bravery award that was going to be presented to Rachit posthumously. With deep breath she lifts the teakettle, keeping the sheets of letters aside and fills up a cup of her favorite tea but sipping alone, keeping Rachit’s picture frame beside.
Remembrance to our brave soldiers and courage to their families.
