We have always heard of demons in fiction
stories but the real life demons hover all around us be it indoors or
outdoors. These itchy demons are none
other than mosquitoes, which make our life miserable. Be it at home or outdoors
with friends and family, we are at some point bound to wake up with itchy red
marks left by mosquitoes.
Recently one of my relative and close
friend fell prey to dengue and they both were hospitalised for few days and
later weeks of rest suggested. While talking to them the point triggered to me
is that they both were unaware of the symptoms of dengue. We all rush to
hospitals for curing the disease but we lack in identifying it. If symptoms of
a disease are known one can act accordingly in quick time, so this post talks
about symptoms of the disease caused by little demons.
What these demons can do?
A single mosquito bite can cause an array
of diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, chikungunya, dengue.
To protect our dear ones from these
dangerous diseases it’s very important to understand the disease and the kind
of precautions to be taken to prevent it.
Symptoms of Dengue:
Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease caused
by four different virus types, DENV 1-4, and spread by the Aedes mosquito,
which prefers biting during the day time (sunlight hours).
It is a severe flu-like illness beginning
with a sudden onset of fever and painful headache. Other symptoms of dengue
include a skin rash, muscle and joint pain, nausea and vomiting. In extreme
cases, it can lead to excessive bleeding (haemorrhaging) and death.
Symptoms of Chikungunya:
The symptoms of chikungunya fever differ
from the normal fever as it is accompanied with acute joint pain. Apart from
this, the other symptoms of Chikungunya are nausea, rash, headache, and fatigue are common symptoms as well. Severe
cases can result in neurological, retinal, and cardiological complications as
well. There have been instances where
people have lived with joint pain for years.
Symptoms of Malaria:
It is a flu-like illness, which begins
with a high fever and chills caused by a plasmodium parasite and spread by the
Anopheles mosquito. Other malaria symptoms include vomiting and nausea,
headaches, body pain, weakness, and fatigue.
How can we keep the demons out?
It is important to protect our family from
the dangers of mosquito bite, both indoors and outdoors. Before stepping
out, the use of personal repellents like Good knight Fabric Roll-On (or the
Good knight cool gel/patches etc.) can prevent mosquito bites. When at home,
shutting the doors and windows in the evening, and use of household-level
repellents like Good knight Activ+ and Good knight Fastcard card can keep
mosquitoes away.
A little know how about the diseases and
the ways to prevent them can drastically reduce the ill effects of a deadly mosquito
bite. Register these pointers to stay healthy.
